Alfa Romeo is planning a lighter, harder, more powerful version of the 8C Competizione supercar, which will badged as a GTA. The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione GTA will be launched to coincide with the Italian firm's centenary year in 2010.
Only 100 examples will be built, each weighing about 1450kg - that's 150kg lighter than a standard 8C. Autocar understands that more power will be extracted from the 8C GTA's 4.7-litre V8, so this faster edition could offer around 500bhp. As well as marking Alfa¹s centenary year, the 8C GTA could prove useful as part of the firm's plan to increase its presence in motorsport. A track-bred version of its fastest, most dynamic car in years would be a good place to start.
