Sneak Peek: Wiesmann MF5 Roadster

Wiesmann is getting so excited about its fastest, most powerful convertible model, the Roadster MF5, that it's giving the world a sneak peek before its debut at Frankfurt. While its styling may not be for everyone, we can guess this much: With only 3050 lbs to push around and 507 German-raised, BMW-bred horses rearing to let loose, it probably goes like stink.

Engineers claim they've tuned the MF5 to hit 62 mph in a scant 3.9 sec and achieve a top speed of 193 mph. Stinky indeed.

Its M5-derived S85-spec V-10 engine sends 383 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels via BMW's slick six-speed manual or latest DCT gearbox. Weight balance is said to be ideal for optimum performance around the twisties. Just take a look at Wiesmann's gecko logo and you'll see how serious they are about grip.

The MF5 gets a full monocoque chassis that's bolstered for civilian duty with airbags, harnesses, stability control, and anti-lock brakes. Inside, the convertible gets a fully-custom interior that's optioned by buyers to include the finest aluminum, woods, leather, and carbon fiber around.

Too bad, though, that North Americans can't get their hands on one. Like its current lineup, none can be had on U.S. soil. Only 55 editions will be sold in Europe at around $276,000.
