Toyota, the carmaker's greenest

Many car manufacturers who engage in the creation of environmentally friendly cars. In this context, the Toyota brand has been awarded the title of "greenest car brand."

Environmental performance unmatched

Following a survey conducted by the consultancy Interbrand, the first report "Best Global Brands Green" highlights that Toyota is both the brand's most popular green car and the one that has the best environmental performance. Note that the green vehicle products by the brand have been best sellers in the world. Positive opinions on Toyota's green cars were also collected from 10 000 users. Another criterion that has enabled the brand to set itself at the top of the ranking to the method of production of its vehicles that meet strict environmental standards.

Innovative technology

To achieve this environmental performance, Toyota has used the full hybrid technology. Note that this system was present on a range of cars of the brand since 1997 (Prius). In 14 years, Toyota / Lexus has sold nearly 3.2 million hybrid vehicles. The aim of the manufacturer was first to attract more customers by reducing the fuel consumption of its vehicles. The goal was quickly achieved, because many people have rushed into buying these hybrid cars. Toyota has continued to improve over time the technology to significantly reduce the rate of CO2 emissions.

Toyota RAV4 electric: the United States in 2012

Toyota RAV4
Nearly 14 years after his first electric RAV4, Toyota decided to revive the concept, but this time with the American manufacturer Tesla Motors. For the record, the first electric Rav-4 was launched in 1997. It was then powered by a battery pack with nickel-metal hybrid and had a range of 175 km on a single charge. 1484 units were sold in the U.S. and about 700 of them still ply U.S. roads today.

The electric RAV4 available to the general public

While rumors claimed that the electric SUV will be reserved exclusively for car sharing, Toyota denies saying his RAV4 will indeed be available to the general public. The Japanese manufacturer will be the first and only manufacturer to sell an electric SUV in the U.S. market in 2012.
Toyota will also launch in 2012 the Scion iQ, an electric four-seater designed only to rental fleets and automobiles. The production of these two electrical models in one year is a feat. The Japanese firm will realize the collaboration with Tesla Motors, a major name in the industry of electric cars.

Toyota and Tesla Motors, a duo!

The agreement, concluded on July 15, involves the provision of an electric drive train system for the 2012 RAV4 version. Tesla will therefore equipment that SUV for batteries, motor, charging system and especially the control software of the power supply. Conversely, Toyota has invested $ 100 million in funding from American manufacturer.
According to Toyota, Tesla technology will enable the RAV4 to display a range of 160 km and acceleration equivalent to that of the diesel version. With this performance, the Japanese firm hopes to attract U.S. motorists in 2012. For European customers, Toyota has not unveiled any marketing program.

Toyota Fortuner's Booking Restarted In India

Toyota  Kirloskar Motors, an Indian venture of Japanese car maker Toyota, announced on Wednesday that it is going to resume the booking process for its best-selling luxury SUV Toyota Fortuner in the Indian market, starting form today.

It is to be mentioned here that company had suspended receiving bookings for the SUV in the Indian market in January 2010, due to the mounting order backlog and continuously increasing delivery period for this vehicle in the country. The suspension of about five months doesn't seem to be making any big difference in leveling the high waiting period of 4 to 5 months as company still has an order-backlog of 4,000 units of Fortuner.

TKM said in a statement on Wednesday that bookings for the Fortuner will reopen from July 1, 2010, across India. The statement added that the company had put a hold on the bookings from January 31, 2010, because of a backlog of orders booked in. According to Mr Sandeep Singh, TKM Deputy Managing Director (Marketing), the deliveries of the new order will begin from October and continue till December 2010.

The company has been receiving an overwhelming response for this SUV in India as more than 8,500 units of this vehicle have already been sold, since its launch in the country, in August 2009. Mr Singh Further said that the resounding success of the Fortuner in India also meant a backlog of customer orders and high waiting periods. The company has now increased the production of the vehicle to more than 950 units (from initial capacity of 500 units) to clear the present backlog of less than 4,000 customer orders by this September.
