Those employed within Acura’s communications department appear to be experts in the art of teasing. Although the world is perhaps most interested in seeing if the 2012 Acura TL retains the oh-so-controversial beak-like grille, the lone teaser photo, issued today via Twitter, only shows the car’s rear end.
Disappointing? Perhaps — but we can still see that the new TL’s rump receives a number of cosmetic changes for the 2012 model year. The rear fascia is much less slab-sided than the previous model, thanks in part to a chamfer that runs along the upper edge of the bumper itself. Acura has also moved the license plate mount up, into allowing for a clean, full-width diffuser design and slender reflectors.
We’d argue this is a cleaner, more attractive take on the TL’s angular design language — and we can only hope this description applies to the remainder of the car’s sheetmetal. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait much longer to see if that’s the case. Acura plans on pulling the tarp shown here off the car bright and early tomorrow morning at the Chicago Auto Show.
