Our eagle-eyed spy shooters have tracked down their first revised Ford Mondeo in the Alps recently, and these photos give us our first look at the changes the Mondeo has in store to keep it fresh midway through a lifecycle that began in 2006. Or at least they would if all that camouflage weren't in the way.
In any event, we can see that the front grille and bumper are masked, though a significant revision appears to lurk underneath, with a larger fresh air opening possibly leading to a more aggressive look for the Mondeo. This wouldn't be too great a presumption, as Ford's aggressively styled Kuga and Fiesta will be leading its European design language for future vehicles.
The rear bumper features heavy masking as well, though the changes underneath are a bit harder to grasp. Meanwhile, our spy shooters inform us that new LED taillights are on their way, and evolutions on the current Mondeo engine range (currently including Ford's EcoBoost gasoline and Duratorq turbodiesel engines) could see more power and fuel economy with reduced emissions.
The Mondeo's design changes could also light the way toward what the next-generation Ford Fusion looks like, as Ford has already announced that the next Fusion (likely for 2012) will feature much of the Mondeo's underpinnings, giving Ford a global midsize sedan. We'll likely see more of the updated Ford Mondeo at the Geneva Motor Show next March, where we expect the car to make its world debut.
