Fans of VW’s Passat CC are in for a special treat. The Gold Coast special edition is not like any other VW. Revealed at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance car show, the special edition CC has been designed with the American market in mind. And the performance based versions aim is to boost the Passat’s US profile where it is aiming to obtain a large percentage of future sales.
It will use the range topping 280bhp, 3.6-litre V6 petrol unit, mated to a 6-speed DSG double-clutch gearbox. Special edition additions will include a tri-coat paint finish featuring a mix of gold, brown and silver tones, bespoke leather sports seats with bronze piping, a more aggressively styled front-end, new front and rear spoilers and massive 19-inch alloy wheels.
The American launch hints strongly that the Gold Coast edition will go on sale at some stage in the US following the arrival of the standard model at the end of this year. But so far there are no plans to release the car in the UK.
If it is released in the US it will likely cost around £34,000 - £2,000 more than the current flagship version.
