As per the statements made by the company officials, the upcoming model which is 70 Kg lighter in weight is built to give better performance and superior fuel economy as against it major rivals in the market.
Talking about the global appearance, Maruti SX4 in Europe market is loaded with 1.9 litre diesel engines taken from Fiat. The Indian version of Maruti SX4 diesel is expected to come with 1.3 Multi-jet which is the most practical approach keeping in mind the use of same engine in models like Maruti Swift and Maruti Dzire along with a VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo).
The diesel powered mid sized saloon market is filled with tough competition with launches like Volkswagen Vento etc. Maruti by launching its diesel variant of Maruti SX4, have to work with smart marketing strategies along with a good cost advantage. As per the company's officials, the model will be able to enter the mid sized saloon diesel engine market with undercut of Rs. 1 lakh against the market leader Volkswagen Vento. Thus looking at the bold claim, one can expect the all stunning Maruti SX4 Diesel in just Rs 6.99 Lakh or 10,000 more than its petrol variant.
