The Indian auto maker's wonder car “Tata Nano”, the world's smallest car has been capturing attention for various reasons sometimes for defaults,
sometime for getting keen interest from US first family to swing its way across country borders. But now it is known that Tata Nano will be loaded with the diesel car version which is expected to hit the Indian shores in September, 2011. These reports were brewing in the Indian auto market, though the latest news covers that it is speculated to carry 600-700 cc diesel powertrain. However there are other rumors that suggest it to be affixed with 800 cc twin cylinder along with Common Rail Diesel powertrain matted with balancer shaft to iron out the vibes.
The mini wonder, Tata Nano sophisticated CRDI system from Bosch; the car is also loaded with diesel mill which can produce a maximum power of 40-48 bhp which is developed to run to 2 lakh kilometers with a mileage of more than 20 kmpl in the city traffic. As the diesel version of the car cost high on manufacturing, it holds a great possibility of price hike in the manufacturing of the cars. It is assumed that the price will be increased to 10 to 20 per cent over the petrol version.
The industry is discussing whether Tata Nano diesel version will be well accepted under the higher price band which will compete against Maruti Alto. Well, it is quite likely that the new version will be accepted with both hands as the car will feature all the latest versions. Tata Nano V2 is speculated to arrive very soon.
