The Problem: Maserati is recalling some 2009 Quattroporte and GranTurismo models because of issues with the rear suspension. Both left and right toe-in tie-rods were machined incorrectly, which could lead to them failing. If the tie-rods fail, one or both of the rear wheels could fall out of alignment and cause the vehicle to lose control.
The Fix: Starting in September 2011, Maserati will replace the affected tie-rods and then perform a rear-end alignment, free of charge. Owners can contact Maserati by calling 1-201-816-2600.
Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 763 MaseratiQuattroporte and GranTurismo models manufactured between July 3, 2008, and September 30, 2008.
